Introduction to Golden Hoofprint :
Good morning Mustangs!
Miss Johnson here. I am very excited to talk to you about Golden Hoofprint. What is Golden Hoofprint you ask? Golden Hoofprint is a program where once a month there will be a theme that is tied to our Mustang Way of Be Responsible, Be Respectful, and Be Caring. Throughout the whole month, teachers will be looking for students in their classes that exhibit the theme. At the end of the month, teachers will be able to nominate students who exhibited that theme to receive a certificate and a front of the line pass! Isn’t that exciting?! Teachers can’t nominate that many students, so if you didn’t get a certificate, but you exhibited the theme, don’t be sad. Just make sure you really show off your skills and you might get nominated the next month. So show off your Mustang Way!
A Night at the Carnival Dance: The “A Night at the Carnival dance” will be on Friday, August 26. 2023 Miller Chinese Fair: This year’s Chinese New Year was on January 22, 2023, which marks the first day of the Lunar calendar. The 15th and last day of the Chinese New Year celebration will be on the Lantern Festival (元宵節), which is February 5th this year.
A way to keep track of the years is the Chinese Zodiac. In Chinese culture, animals are used to represent the years. The system cycles through twelve animals, who are said to have raced to the jade chamber in the heavens
The winner of the race was the rat, having hitched a ride on the ox, who was second. The tiger was third, followed by the rabbit, then the dragon, the snake, the horse, the sheep, the monkey, the chicken, the dog, and lastly, the pig
This Chinese New Year celebrates the rabbit year, which is an animal that is deeply significant to Chinese culture. For instance, the Jade Rabbit is the rabbit that is said to accompany the maiden/goddess Chang’e on the moon.
On Thursday, January 26 and Friday, January 27, there will be a Chinese fair held in the quad during lunch, hosted by the CLIP students. Many different activities and presentations will be available.
Here, you can learn about the Chinese arts such as calligraphy or traditional paper cutting, gain more knowledge on the Chinese zodiac and the year of the rabbit, play games such as go, Chinese chess, or mahjong, and even try some traditional Chinese foods.
Be sure to come to the quad to check out the booths!

Golden Hoofprint: Hey Miller! It’s Golden Hoofprint time. The Golden Hoofprint theme this month is Overcoming Obstacles with Positive Action. To help yourself, ask a friend, a teacher, or a parent to explain it in a different way. The different way might be just what you needed to help you solve the problem.
